About this Event
This April marks the one-year anniversary of President Donald Trump’s initial attack on Harvard University. The federal government's attempts to control faculty hiring, international admissions, and research funding within the university represent a grave threat to academic freedom across the country. Over the past year, Trump has expanded his attacks to include universities across the country as part of his broader attacks on our freedoms.
We believe universities play a key role in the resisting these attacks on our freedoms. On Friday, April 24th, hear from elected officials, Harvard professors, and pro-democracy organizers, about what we can do to protect the rights we value. Now is the time to stand up for what we care about, and stand up for each other.
Speakers will include:
-
Cornell Brooks - former President of the NAACP and Harvard Professor
-
Marshall Ganz - Senior Lecturer in Leadership, Organizing, and Civil Society at HKS and former organizer for the United Farm Workers
-
Theda Skocpol - Harvard Professor of Government and Sociology
-
Alex Keyssar - Harvard Professor of History and Social Policy
-
Archon Fung - Harvard Professor of Citizenship and Democracy
-
Abdullah Shahid Sial - Current HUA Co-President
-
Patty Nolan - Cambridge City Councilor and Co-Chair of Crimson Courage
-
Also a special message from Jamie Raskin!
